I’m showing the effects of starting resistance and how a spinning blade extracts more energy from the wind than a stationary blade in the same wind. I’m starting to see why direct drive axial generators might work well. Plus you can see how a fast spinning blade is not necessarily very powerful since the acceleration, which I show here, is additive from small wind power with no electrical load. One day when I get a strong wind, I’ll go outside and give it a hand spin to see if it will sustain itself even with my pulley generator system. I’m not sure if it will start on its own. I’ll need to observe, and accurately measure, better wind to know that answer. I am in a very poor location. I never should have started this project.
I learned a lot though. I only started it because I had the generator. I was not interested in winding coils and setting magnets. I recommend you build my anemometer and wind direction projects first. Then you will know the truth about your location. I made the error of observing surrounding very low trees and wind effects on my solar panels. They are deceiving effects. My next video will be a computer electronic interface for the anemometer for wind speed measurements to see if I ever have sustained 10 mph winds. I need that measurement to decide if that blade design works or not, and whether the pulley system works or not, including start up without a push. Stay tuned. The facts are better than guessing.

www.mwands.com Our test on the Windmax 600 watt, 24 volt 3 blade wind turbine. The windmax 600 weighs about 50 pounds and is made in China, not Texas. The distribution center is in Texas and run by a Chinese guy named Wang.
We have seen so many good videos about them we thought we would buy one and give it a try. It turns out The dealers and installers make them look good in there videos. From calls to us from around the world on skype and the emails customers are’nt very happy with them. Every company puts there own name on them like wind energy 7 and others, the chinese really don’t care what name you put on them i guess. The main problem with the Windmax is the controller burning out, when this happens the wind turbine spins out of control and the motor burns up. The second problem is getting them to stay in the wind. The tail is to small to accomplish that. You can see the test results from an unbiased company in the end of the video.
